The HEALing Communities Study (HCS) aims to reduce opioid overdose deaths by 40 percent in participating communities through three evidence-based practices: 1) increasing opioid overdose prevention education and naloxone distribution, 2) enhancing delivery of medication for opioid use disorder maintenance treatment, and 3) improving prescription opioid safety.
The implementation phase of HCS spans 2020-2023. Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician education is an important part of HCS implementation. For more information regarding the HEALing Communities Study in Kentucky visit: www.HealTogetherKY.org.
The HCS implementation in KY communities ends on December 31, 2023. The FREE continuing pharmacy education (CPE) activities and educational resources listed on this site will remain available following the conclusion of the study to help sustain prescription opioid safety efforts in Kentucky.
